Shame on Amazon
Dangerous. Made a huge arc fault and bust into flames when I plugged it in. Shame on Amazon for selling shady electronics that's are not UL tested.

DID NOT WORK
I used this DPS unit on a 4.8 HP 3-phase Italian motor which was on an old stroke sander, wired for 230 volts. Wiring it up is brain dead simple. It took right off with plenty of power. I solved the rotation issue by switching 2 of the 3 leads for the 3-phase---got it fixed the first time. I thought this was a great / cheap solution--- way cheaper than rotary conversion. So it worked—— HOWEVER— this unit made my sander sound like a freight train (very alarming!) and I knew I was tearing it apart inside. I sent it back, then a local electric motor company made a different solid state converter for me, and that worked, but sounded like a jet engine in my garage!!Finally, I bought an American made rotary phase converter (after much down time) and my sander now runs PERFECTLY SMOOTH, like it should. So, save your time and money and get a REAL converter.

This works perfectly with 3 horse thickness planer
I am using this to run a 1970s 18” thickness planer by powermatic. There is no lag at all and it works perfectly. Supposedly it’s not for use anywhere other than electric motors but I never tried it. Requires a circuit one size larger than the one the motor requires. Mine is a 20 amp 220v 3phase and I had to run a 30 amp circuit and outlet that it connects to. This is not for 440 3 phase as there is no high leg so verify you can wire your motor for 220v 3 phase. Yes, 220 3phase, not single phase. There are two types of 3 phase. Delta and Y. This supplies Y only and not delta. You may need to move phases around to make it work and I suggest you get an electrician but isn’t hard to do if you pay attention. I happen to be an electrician.

Phase shifter
I purchased this Phase Shifter a little over a year ago and ir has performed flawlessly. I would of rated this four stars but it is very difficult to reach customer service. I had a problem but it ended up being something other than the DPS. But is was difficult to reach customer service, when I did reach them they were responsive and helpful. That is the only reason for it not being a five star review. The DPS was easy to install and has worked great.

Unfortunate
Let me start by saying that I hired one of the best electrical companies in my area to do the install. It seemed to come together easily enough, but in the end my machine didn't work properly. It would turn on, and I would hear the motor running, and then once I put the motor into action, it would run very noisily until it shut off with an error code indicating that there wasn't enough power to make the motor run properly. Had an electrician come out and verify everything was hooked up correctly. It was hooked up correctly, but when we tested the three phases one wouldn't generate any power. U to V and U to W were reading the correct power out, but W to V was giving me no power. At this point I can only assume this is a faulty product. Now I'm stuck even longer with a very expensive piece of equipment generating no revenue for my business while I look at further options.

Great item
I use this to power a compressor for a walk in cooler in a residential setting. It's been hooked up 3 years no problems yet.

Fired my 5HP 3PH 13-5 Lathe up on the first try!!!
I was careful with the wiring reading the instructions and other reviews carefully and this thing worked great for me right off the bat. Home run! Saved me a pile and now every 3 phase machine I buy for my home hobby machine shop will have one of these in it.Runs the transformer for the relays and interlocks on my lathe controller flawlessly because i followed the instructions. Startup is quick and quiet. The phase shifter as well as the motor stay cool even under a load making cuts at high rpm. If you can read instructions and wiring schematics and you have a basic understanding of single and 3 phase electricity work you can get the job done with this. As far as i can tell the bad reviews were all written by people who cannot read instructions.
