Fantastic - highly recommended
Really amazing pair of gardening gloves. Yes they are expensive but having spent a few days tackling rose bushes, brambles and general gardening I made the mistake of putting on a pair of normal heavy duty gloves to tidy up, and promptly got stuck with a thorn! Now I just stick with these gloves. Arms are really wonderfully protected with the gauntlet. If you grab a really spikey rose head on it can get through, or if you have a particularly vicious variety that have an unearthly determination to draw blood. I took hold of the first rose with a bit of trepidation as it goes against instincts to hold something thorny but was really surprised when it didn't go right through. They seem too soft to offer a huge amount of protection, but they really do. For "normal" gardening e.g. those who aren't cutting down a huge forest of the most vicious brambles, I don't think you'll regret investing in these gloves.Update 8 months on - I have now purchased two more pairs of these fantastic gloves (and some for my neighbour who finds them a godsend). The first pair survived everything I threw at them - a 1 acre garden totally overgrown with the thorniest of brambles that have never been tamed, with every plant having a bramble friend wrapped around it or hiding within it. These gloves have seen real combat with me yanking and dragging sometimes ten or more metres of bramble out of trees .... I really hate bramble! But only on three occasions have I had to yelp as a thorn bit back! I'm having to replace them as I use them for normal gardening (I don't trust any other gloves now - especially with the stealth brambles that exist in the heart of every shrub, and the stealth nettles that hide within the most innocent of flower beds), so they have been covered in wet mud on many occasions and are now a bit stiff, far beyond a wipe with a damp cloth. So I'm treating myself to a nice new soft pair and keeping one in reserve (for anyone who wants to help me in my bramble mission). While I hate brambles ... I love these gloves and now wouldn't use any others.

I''ve Changed My Mind!
I used the calculation suggested by the supplier and was 2 sizes out! The gloves look OK but I'll have to return them for a (much) bigger size. I suggest most men will definitely need L and most likely XLIn fact these do fit. The gauntlet part wouldn't slide over thick coat sleeves but does fit over a fleece and the skin tight hand sections give max dexterity. I could maybe have done with a size up but this soft leather will obviously loosen with time and use

sizing the problem as usual
No problem with quality and functional use, but like Sealskinz and many other makes, sizing is never what it seems. Bought large and gave them to my wife and now have xl which are a comfortable fit but only just.Any bloke with large hands who the size chart says needs a L will almost certainly not get into them. Even with xl the wrist entry point is now just about right, the finger length just about there. It's infuriating when the quality of the product is good, but the sizing info is half baked, but this seems to be standard practice for most imported gloves.

Better vs thorns than expected.
They arrived and I immediately felt that they were too thin and supple to withstand bramble thorns.I was pleasantly surprised but they aren’t designed for purely thorn related applications. They are for gardeners who might come across the odd thorn and might need to handle the occasional thorny branches or roses perhaps. They are NOT for tightly grabbing a bramble and yanking it down from the canopy and onto the pile. They are NOT thorn proof aka invulnerable to thorns. They do scratch and they will eventually puncture.Actually my biggest complaint is the forearm protection because they are so unyielding that they are not comfortable with warm long sleeves and by extension not suited to cooler weather.

Are these seconds? Not great quality.
Going to use them today. May update the review later, but i am disappointed with the initial quality of these gloves. I didn't go for the cheapest ones because I like paying a bit extra for quality... However, the stitching is already separating in parts, before I've even worn them, and the leather has got holes in. These strike me as the seconds that have been discarded as being too shoddy for shops. With a trip to a shop to check for quality in future.Edit : I have used them for an hour or so of clearing rose branches from a rambling rose with very nasty thorns. Only one or two got through, but you kind of know they're coming, so didn't even break the skin... A vast improvement on my usual approach of trying to take care without any gloves. The gloves are easy to work in too, with great flexibility. So, if only they had been well made out of the box, it would be five stars!

Great gloves… good quality comfort for a fair price.
I absolutely love these gloves. This is my third pair … the other two pairs were taken by other family members who love them too. I bought a smaller size for me this time… so they only fit me! I wear a size 8 glove in women’s, I have quite large hands and a medium is the perfect fit…..We have a very large garden that requires quite heavy duty work with some tough jobs… it’s almost a full time job. These gloves are substantial enough to tackle heavy duty work and tough pruning, but soft enough and comfortable when wearing for hours doing any gardening task…planting, digging, light pruning. A great glove that allows you to ‘feel’ what you are doing but substantial enough to protect you from the sharpest rose thorn. Great gloves for a fair price. Good quality and well made.
