Awesome book
I like this book so much I've probably bought a dozen of them for friends over the years. This lady is an inciteful writer. You will learn that body positioning is only one small part of reading someone. There is so much more, and this book shows you what else is there right in front of you

Great read
This book is excellent and the material covers quite a lot. The secret to this book is to read no more than a chapter a day. Try to apply the teachings before you move on.My only complaint is in the edition I read (I think it is changed), the author changes pronoun gender multiple times -sometimes in the same paragraph. -it's really distracting. However, this book's material seemed to be the best amongst about 10 books I've read on the subject. You may want to also look into a more detailed reading on handwriting analysis if this book interests you.

A Great Start!
At times, the less liberal leanings of the author peak through and her judgment shows. She does write that our internal biases are hard to overcome and this book is no exception. Her own biases peek through in some of her conclusions. For example: “working-class socioeconomic background (you’ll seldom see a wealthy person with tattoos)” made me laugh. This book was written in 2008 and although it’s only been ten years, a few things have changed. Tattoos and piercings, in particular, have less to do with socioeconomic backgrounds.Another example is she tends to paint all people with one broad stroke even though this book is about literally not doing that. For example: “When two people are first dating, they’ll typically avoid the use of profanity like the plague.” Not if those people were raised in a house that used profanity or were party of a military family or in the military themselves. There plenty of people who swear and their education and socioeconomic background, two things she loves emphasising for “deviant behaviour,” have no bearing on their love of swearing. There are a few outdated references to items such as MySpace and Blackberries. The point remains but the technology changes.I would not use this book as the be-all-end-all book of your people-studying but it is a great place to start to begin to understand clues and how to break people down into small components.

Very helpful for those of you looking to understand people
This was a fabulous book it confirmed everything I already knew about how to read people and how to look for patterns it was just nice to see it up in a concise clarified organized fashion.

WOW! Fresh and innovative!
I absolutely like this book. I'm a grad student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I was so thrilled to have run into this book which goes more in depth of meeting people and knowing people. This book is the icing on the cake that completes the role as a therapist!

Ever find out too late what someone's really like?
I originally picked up this book at the library, hoping it might give me quick tips for my sales job. It didn't, but what it did give me was a way to better understand people. I had to buy a copy for myself to read again, and I'm getting as much out of it the second time. Yes, a lot is common sense, but this book goes beyond common sense and stereotypes to help us see what's underneath the clothes, skin color, etc. I have found it to be a helpful aid to choosing the people I want in my life. I also found it enjoyable to read because of my interest in people and psychology.

Somewhat helpful, a lot of common sense
This book was recommended to me by a respected educator, following a discussion about putting together a full picture of a person before entering a long term business relationship. It was somewhat helpful in that it reminds us of the connection between appearances and inner thoughts, without being overly stereotypical in our thinking. The author is a gifted jury selection expert. That said, the book is full of repetition without a lot of tangible examples of how outward appearance actually predicted behavior. This would be extremely useful, and without it, the reader is left to identify outward markers with no idea what they could indicate. As a result, we miss out on the sum of the author's experience.Somewhat useful...,

Good base of information
After reading the other reviews. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I am glad I bought this book. The topic of reading people is well covered. No book will make you an expert but this one gives a good base.
