Great quality and good choice.
Was looking for a good quality chinese chef knife to replace my wife's cheapo version. Looked online and went to my local Ranch 99 (Asian Grocery Store) to check out what was available. Decided from the reviews that the Wallop would be my first choice to try. I wanted a good quality wood handle so it actually look and felt like a chinese cleaver. I also did not want to spend $100+ for a knife that my wife only uses once in a while. I was very pleased on what I got. The wood handle look better than anything at my local store. The blade was super sharp and the finish was outstanding. I have decided to purchase the Chopping version to complete the set even though my wife doesn't cut bone very often. Figure you never know when you want to be able to cut frozen fish or meat.

After a good week and a half I can definitely say they ...
After purchasing this knife the first time for my friend, i has to buy one for myself. So why did I buy this knife again? After I purchased this knife as a gift for my friend, I’ve heard nothing but praise. So I decided to try this out myself and see if the praise was justified. After a good week and a half I can definitely say they were correct in complimenting this knife. The knife overall has a good quality, nice sharp blade, and a sturdy handle. According to my friend who has used this knife for about a month, the knife still maintained it’s sharpness. After this purchase I have recommended it to many of my friends and family because this knife’s value considering the price is just way too good to pass on!

I always wanted a cleaver
I like this cleaver so far. I've only used it on herbs and small veggies but it performed great. It's sharp out of the box. The only one draw back I didn't give it 5 stars is because the 2 ribbed cut outs on the handle. It wasn't sanded down. I can feel the sharp corners every time I grabbed the knife. I'll have to sand them down for more comfort. Nice budget cleaver that won't break the bank and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I've seen some chefs using cleavers as their main knife and wanted one. This is a good start for me. It likely won't be the only cleaver though.

Brittle
This cleaver is so sharp! Worked great for slicing vegetables and thawed meat. But is made from very brittle steel I dropped it from no higher then 8" from my counter top and a 1" section of the blade just snapped off and it's pretty much shot now.

very sharp and worth the money
I intended to use this for my household use but my husband who is a chef tried it and then he said it was a very good knife and he said it must have been expensive like knives that cost a few hundred dollars. I told him that it was only $40 on Amazon and he couldn't believe it. And then he really liked it because it was very sharp and comfortable on his hand so he took it for restaurant use. So he said this was really worth the money and I'm glad I bought this knife.

surprisingly good.
I bought both knife as gift for my husband. he loves them. I think it is a smart and economical idea of not having whole piece out of damascus but only the blade part. The handle and everything looks premium quality. We have a $399 damascus cleaver but mistakenly used it on the frozen meat, the blade chipped. Now I bought the two for different tasks and they handled well so far. And the price is just UNBEATABLE, no pressure (of breaking it)at all xD

Extremely well made with excellent materials.
By far the most used knife in the kitchen. Although a cleaver it is so well proportioned and made that we use for everything , including mincing garlic, slicing onions, tomatoes, bread whatever yet robust enough for regular cleaving of meat, gristle, fish heads etc. Able to maintain sharpness due to confluence of blade materials and manufacture of slender profile blade.
