Noddy Holder (guitar and vocals) Jim Lea (bass, violin and keyboards) Dave Hill (lead guitar and glitter) and Don Powell (drums) sold an incredible 50 million records in the seventies, scoring 17 top 20 hits, six number one singles (they were the first group since The Beatles to score three straight number ones on the day of release) and notched 33 top 30 hits from Get Down And Get With It in 1971 to Radio Wall of Sound in l991, based upon their own compositions and a successful live formula of stomp and deliver. Yet they also remain one of the most astonishingly underestimated rock bands of all time as much of Slade s musical depth and performance was masked by their flamboyant image. It is time now to not just look wot they dun but to give credit for what you can hear they dun on this comprehensive retrospective and see with your own ears how significant they really were. Frequently described as the missing link between the The Beatles and Oasis, Slade had a wide-ranging influence on rock music and there is much more to them than meets the eye. This anthology is the first really comprehensive collection to emphasise the point. The four CDs cover all Slade s hits plus key album tracks, rare B sides and recordings from early in their 25 year life-span. This is the definitive overview of Slade s music, enabling us to appreciate the depth and versatility of a band who justly get nominated every year for a life time achievement award - something which surely someone will soon realise is long overdue. Let the Gud times roll!

Takes me right back to the early seventies and eighties
As I was born in Sept 61, I remember when Slade first hit the pop charts. The first vinyl LP I ever got was "Old, New,Borrowed and Blue, and my parents were horrified because the "s"s were the wrong way round, and they didn't like the lyrics either! I still have that LP on vinyl and a lot of the Slade LPs including "Nobody's Fool" on cassette. Along with the Boxed Set, I have most of the Slade Tracks available in my record collection. This boxed set adds to it! Well worth it! The price is a steal, and the booklet is very informative.I am going to obtain the film "Slade in Flame" when I can. I know part of that was filmed in Sheffield at the time, for reasons which I don't like. Reading about it in the booklet has made me interested, although I have recorded it last year on TV.Thanks!

Feel the Noize!!!
I have to confess that I was never a fan of Slade in their heyday, although I did like most of their commercial singles. I bought this collection to fill a gap in my collection. I never realised that most of their music was self penned, and how good their B sides and album tracks were. This collection is an absolute knockout! CD 4, in particular is much closer to heavy metal than glam rock, and Noddy does sound eerily like John Lennon on some of the earlier stuff. If you don't have any, or not much, by Slade in your collection, buy this. It's a steal at the price, worth every penny and more. There are so many collections out there now which disappoint, due to being re-recorded versions often sounding nothing like the originals, but this is the genuine article. BUY IT!!!!!

A must for Slade fans
As a teenager in the seventies living in the midlands, Slade were my favorite band. I had most of the singles and LPs full of scratches and a few warped I have not played them for many a year so had forgot a lot of the songs. I have a half hour drive to work and back and decided to buy this box set hopefully to enjoy reminiscing. Boy was I glad , it is brilliant, it completely took me back to my youth I found myself singing at the top of my voice. Also a few tracks i had not heard before. The box set is in chronological order so it leads you through your life as a Slade fan .

Excellent comprehensive collection
Excellent comprehensive collection. Everything they ever did is on here. They did some rubbish as well, of course, bu all the classics are on here and also lesser known gems. ' We'll Bring The House Down' being a particular example. The accompanying pack is very informative too.

Epic
Epic. Just epic, and at this price a steal considering the huge content. For those wishing to augment their, probably, now crackly vinyl you can not go wrong with this boxed set as it is all here. For those wishing to dabble with Slade for the first time, likewise.Slade were not just a throat-jarring, take-it-to-11 glam-rock band. They could actually play their instruments; just step aside from the vocals and listen to the music. However, they were in their element performing live. I had the pleasure of seeing they twice and whilst there is some live content in this collection augment it with "Slade Alive" (the two-disc version) to hear them at their best.

Slayed by a brilliant box set
Well the Slade Box certainly brought this house down. Those rougues Don, Jim, Noddy and Dave got me through my youth, and this excellent four CD anthology has arrived in time to keep my youthfulness going for many more years to come. I for one got down and got with it and felt the noize coz I luv them. Go and buy this amazing Kamikaze wall of sound now.One thing did confuse me though. I bought a copy for me and a few weeks later ordered a copy for my brother, and although the content and price were the same it came in a smaller box with smaller booklet.

The Slade Box Set
If you love great Rock music made by genuine people who mastered their craft the hard way (and not by appearing on some poxy "talent" show)then this is for you. All the great singles along with great album tracks and some "rarities" such as B sides. As another reviewer has stated the other great Slade set is "The Live Anthology" which only repeats one track that is on this set. I went and bought "Slade in Flame" the DVD and CD set - I recommend it to anyone interested in Slade and is a surprisingly good "gritty" film.
