The App won’t ask you what network to use so make sure you install using a phone connected to 2.4G.
I like the facility to be able to automate certain devices, particularly table lamps when I am away from home for security purposes. I further like the ability and reassurance of being able to see via the app the current state (on or off) of the devices.I did not like the relative difficulty of adding a second/subsequent family member to be able to use the app from their mobile device. There is also a caveat to be aware of when installing the plugs. The app does not let you select the network to connect to. It automatically looks at the network your phone is connected to and tries to use that. This sounds helpful except when your router is capable of both 2.4G and 5G. If you have separate network ids for each to make it obvious which one your phone or tablet has connected to and you try to install the plugs when connected to 5G it will fail but will not tell you why (ie it’s because the plugs don’t support 5G but you may not realise that the app has automatically selected the 5G network). It took me a few try’s before I realised what was going on. You will have to temporarily connect the phone or tablet to the 2.4G network, install the sockets and then you can connect the device back to 5G after installing the socket. Less savvy customers may not work this out.

Works but software dubious
These took a lot of fiddling around to set up to actually get them to work. We did get them working via the Smart Life app but not via Alexa on the Echo Dot. In setting up you have to create an account and enter your wifi password, to the company who runs the app. In hindsight this is rather mind-boggling, sharing your wifi password. The difficulty with connecting to Alexa was linking the app account with Alexa - I was asked for the password I had just set up for the Smart Life app and it wasn't accepted - I triple checked it was correct, then clicked on the link to send me an email to reset my password. I never received an email despite trying this 2 or 3 times and checking my junk mail. So to me this company have my wifi password and then stopped communicating with me and their app didn't connect to Alexa.I have sent them back and now purchased the ones by TP-Link which cost more but are a trusted brand. I have also now thought about the whole network security business and set up a Guest Network via my router, purely for the smart devices, to keep computers and phones secured. Because I believe each smart device requires you to share your wifi password. Having read up about this, I would highly recommend anyone using any smart device, to set up a Guest Network on the router, but only if it is possible to set a separate network key for the Guest network (not an open Guest network that anyone can connect to) and to ensure WPA-2 encryption is set on the Guest network also. This then gives you two networks and two network keys/passwords. The original one for your PC's and phones etc, and the second, guest one, for smart devices.

Easy to set up, easy to control and time.
These are great. I bought this as I sleep with a fan on but like it timed to switch off when I set it to. I used an old analog times that wasn’t very accurate, not I can control the socket easily with my phone (using the app or google assistant). Luckily it is controlled by the same app that I already had set up to use my LED bulbs with. Note: the sockets only work on a 2.4gh network so I had to go into my Virgin Media 3.0 hub to disable 5g, connect the socket then re-activate 5g.

Stong and well made
The unit is quite compact however the size of the paper with the instructions is VERY SMALL and require a magnifying glass to read also the setting up procedure is very complicated involving rushing between the device ,a mobile phone and a computer. But once set up works OK
