Knits for the Waldorf Doll: 27 designs including pattern for doll

Self-published rubbish
This is usually, thankfully, only an issue with kindle books but now I'm going to be cautious about print books too, it seems! Self-publishing would be a great idea if only people (I can't possibly use the word 'author' in regard to this item!) would ask a professional's advice! This book (even that description isn't really accurate - it's barely a book, more a wide pamphlet!) is the sort of thing that friends and family will think is great - that's fine if you're giving it away to friends and family for free! I paid over £10 for this item so I expected some sort of quality - it's not even been proof-read!I didn't get as far as trying the patterns as there's no way I'm keeping the item - I want my £10 back! The writing is diabolical (strange rants about her cats, terrible grammar, etc) but the photos are even worse. You can't see the cover photo clearly on Amazon (not on my iPad at any rate) but the dolls are a joke. Who on earth would make something so ugly, let alone take photos of it and put it in a book?! The clothes are just hideous! Knitting and yarns have advanced hugely - sadly Elizabeth Carlin isn't aware of this. In the 1970's, maybe she would have got away with it, but not today - the photos show awful bulky yarns, badly fitting designs, dull colours, and not one outfit any modern knitter would be happy with.I'm sure this book took a lot of effort and I'm sure Ms Carlin is very proud of it, but reviews have to be honest - this is a book for friends and family only, not fit for publication. To charge £10 for it is a huge insult to all the excellent knitting books out there which cost far less. Needless to say, the book is being returned. Ms Carlin, please don't write any more - or, if you do, get a PROFESSIONAL to proof read it!
