Love my kindle and the battery life last so long!

the first one died in less than a month but Amazon had me a replacement overnighted free of charge.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Love my kindle and read on it a lot. My only complaint is that the dark mode doesn’t get bright enough to read during the day. I’m visually impaired and see better in the dark mode. That’s part of the reason I ordered this. I can adjust the font size so that I can continue my love of reading.

This Certified Refurbished Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is the most recent of a series of similar purchases from Amazon over the past few years. I have invariably been pleased with every aspect of each and all such purchases, including having saved a substantial amount of money. The most complex item was a Dell OptiPlex 5060 that I have been using daily for a couple of years. Do yourself a favor and check availability of Amazon refurbs and used items in "very good" or "same as new" stated condition before you complete a substantial purchase. You will not be disappointed.

I have a Kindle Fire 8 and use it a lot. I was wondering if the paperwhite would be easier on my eyes than the glossy screen on the Fire. It turns out that the Paperwhite has a very soft matt finish, which keeps the room light from shining off of the screen and into my eyes. I have not tried this out in the sun yet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can change the font to the smallest size and read it with no problems or distortion. The brightness needed to be turned up some, but the results are beautiful to my eyes and comfortable for them as well.This turned out to be a great purchase and getting the refurbished model saved me a bit of cash that can be used to buy a few more books. That is a win/win in my book.

I really liked my older version better. I have slightly blurry vision but not bad enough to use glasses (I got an e-reader to make the font bigger and easier to read without glasses). For whatever reason, you can't adjust font size on the main menu or settings menus!! Every time I need to pick a new book from my library or change a setting I get mad about it. Also, the menu is pretty obnoxious for finding books. It's pretty frustrating that you can't just scroll through a simple list of books with a thumbnail next to them. You can scroll through thumbnails, OR list. Thumbnail is too small to read the title (because it isn't listed under the thumbnail), and the list is too small for me to read easily anyway.Also, the inability to rotate the screen to each side is ridiculous. It will do landscape, or portrait - but only on one side for each option. If you have a cover and want to prop it up, or if you want to charge it while reading you're out of luck. I really hope they bring back the option to rotate the screen to ANY direction.It isn't completely useless though. Once you start the book there are some good features and the picture is clear enough to make reading easy once I get the font where I need it. I like being able to highlight sections and look up words - and the battery lasts FOREVER. If they could fix those two stupid issues in a software update I would have nothing but praise for this thing.
