This is easily the most rugged and beefy robot chassis in its price range. The Wild Thumper 6-Wheel platform is the best of both worlds: It takes almost no time to go from un-boxing to rolling chassis, but it's also ready to be expanded on and makes great base for an Advanced Robot.The Kit now includes 2x Quadrature Magnetic Wheel Encoders that can be optionally mounted. These can be used to perform accurate speed control, essential in advanced Robotics application.The 6WD chassis has wicked spiked 120mm diameter wheels and an anodized aluminium chassis made from 2mm thick plate. Each of the six motors are mounted on independent suspension and outfitted with 75:1 steel gearboxes.The chassis has 4mm diameter holes punched every 10mm and there is plenty of room interior to the chassis for batteries, drivers and other support hardware: two chassis segments between the wheels have been designed to hold 7.2V sub C battery packs (not included) as used in many RC cars.
