The BEST - SELLING HT50 Hedge Trimmer has been IMPROVED this year and is much LIGHTER than last years model - but still gives the same power to the Super Sharp Blades. The HT50 is a unique Pole Trimmer with a 150 degree articulating power head for easy cutting and shaping of hedges & bushes. The telescopic pole allows the operator to extend and lock the shaft into position up to a maximum length of 1.85m. Makes trimming tall hedges a much safer job - as no need to use a ladder! Technical Specification: Model: HT50 Rated Power: 500W Voltage: 230v ~50Hz Blade Length: 466mm Max. Cutting Capacity: 20mm Net. Cable Length 8m. Weight: 3.7 kg

Be very careful with this sort of item.
I have purchased one of these and what you need to know is the motor and all the weight is at the end of the pole! OK if your pruning vertically but horizontally it multiplies what you think your holding. Avoid pruners with the weight at the end on the pole as it's not a good idea, this one dragged me off a tree pruning platform because of the harness which you need to use it last year due to the weight distribution and damaged my hip. The problem with my hip is still there!Avoid any long reach hedge pruner with all the weight at the business/cutting end unless your a body builder.

Powerful, good quality
Just finished trimming about 10 meters length of hedges between my front and back gardens. They were about 8.5 foot tall. This hedge trimmer cut through the vast majority of branches with ease. Occasionally on the thicker ones I just sat it against them without pushing to hard and it cuts through. I had another Hedge Trimmer that wasn't mains powered, it was battery powered, and this Wolf Creek one feels about 3 times the power of it.I'm 34 with above average upper body strength... so I didn't find this overly hard to use. An older person probably would, but who says you have to cut the entire hedge all at once? Just take breaks, go back and forward to it. Even I did that and I'm younger :-)Anyway, I've only used it once for both my hedges... so I can't comment on it's longevity yet. I support I probably won't need to use it again for months. But it seems to be quite well built.

Excellent value but not without minor problems.
Made very efficient cutting of mixed hazel/hawthorn/holly hedge (30x3x2metres) but struggled with some of current year's (still green) thicker growth. Bit on heavy side but much less so than others on market. Some gripes - the hex key tool was missing (fortunately I had one in my tool box), the scabbard split when I tried to put it on after the first use and the carabiner hook bent out of shape soon after - very shoddy construction! So, not perfect but a good buy nevertheless. TM Cumbria.

Major time SAVER!!
Every year I have to cut back the hedges around my garden and it generally took most of the day to complete with a standard hand held hedge cutter - going up and down the ladders many times. We also have a shed, a rabbit shed and a couple of external rabbit hutches that all now get in the way of the hedges. This year I decided to buy an extendable hedge cutter, and I am SO GLAD I DID. I was done in a fraction of the time - just over two hours, down from the usual 5ish. Also, with the extended reach, the number of times I had to go up the ladders was significantly reduced.I would have to agree with other reviews - it is a bit on the top-heavy side when extended. I am a 41 year old male and like to think I have good upper body strength, so it did not really hinder me, but others might have an issue with it.With the positioning of the shed and other bits in the garden, just relying on ladders and a hand held cutter was no longer possible, but with the extra reach this device offered, I was able to get to all the hard to reach places, especially just behind the rabbit shed where I had to half stand on a ladder, half sit on the shed roof and use the extended reach to sweep over the tops of the hedges.I am totally happy with it, saved me a load of time and the expense of getting in a professional. It has done its job and will now go into storage ready for next year.

Works well, very good, very powerful, a bit heavy.
Basically, a mains powered, 500w electric hedge cutter at the top of a pole!Assembly is easy - just push the motor unit onto the pole, and you're away! It's solid and well made, and if it's a bit heavy that's better than being lightweight and flimsy - which it certainly isn't. The makers claim to have reduced the weight, hence probably the glass fibre constuction of the pole.Adjustment of the pole height and angle of the cutter is easy. Most of the time it's easy and comfortable to use. The issue of weight really only kicks in when trying to trim at maximum height, and leaning forwards - as when trimming the tops of tall bushes. This is better than a gymn for the biceps! Seriously, if you have any lower lumbar issues, wear a back support belt. It's powerful enough to cut with ease, although I try to avoid cutting anything near the maximum thickness of 0.5 inch. (Forcing hedge trimmers to the limit places a huge strain on the drive mechanism, which is how I finally stripped the gears on my old one.)The only minor criticism is that the guarantee is invalid if you don't lubricate it, but nowhere in the instructions does it tell you how to do this, or what lubricant to use. I have continued to use spray grease, on the blades which seems fine. There's no way to lubricate the drive mechanism, which I presume is sealed for life.

Hedge trimmer.
The adds say lightweight which to some extent is true, but please remember that the longer the reach, the heavier the end gets, the shoulder strap works well to take the weight off the arms and back and the extension is easy to use, easy to assemble and well priced, delivery was fast and reliable.

Quite heavy but useful as part of a weight loss programme
Previous reviewers were correct, it is a bit too heavy for me (being a vertically challenged pensioner) but i can use it for about 30 seconds at a time before I have to lower it, but you can cut quite a bit in that time. One can build up a sweat and build up ones muscles as well. I just plan to cut the hedge over a few days instead of one afternoon. On the plus side I didnt have to pay the hedge trimmer chap £150.
