Mermaid blankets are very popular right now. Both my daughters have asked for them recently. This is a nice warm but light weight crocheted or knitted version. Around the base it is knitted in a tube for the first 12-18 inches. This is the section where you stick your feet in, going up just past the calves. From there, it is split in the back and Vs out allowing you to fan the blanket out on top of you. This is a child's size. I would say it is best suited, size wise, for those about 6-10 years old. My 12 year old was a little tall for it and the blanket only came up to her stomach but was still functional. When reading the size of the blanket remember to take into account the tail (about 12") as their feet do not go into this section it is for decoration only. This means if the blanket is 53" long, the blanket is only going to cover about 40-41" measuring from your child's toes up. I would have preferred the blanket to be a little wider at the top to better wrap up with but all in all this is a nice blanket. Just make sure you measure correctly to see if it will fit your child.

This mermaid blanket is a hit with any girl! Who hasn't wished to be a mermaid at one time or another? I know I STILL wish I was a mermaid! But seriously I got this for my 2 year old and she went crazy over it and she hasn't even seen the Little mermaid yet! I also got one for my 5, 8 and 11 year old nieces for Christmas and they were all equally stoked about it! So I'd say this is a perfect gift for any young lady. It is very soft and well made. I ran it thru the washing machine before I gave it to my daughter and also dried it and it held up just fine. The color is bright and it is truly a beautiful blanket! Definitely recommend for anyone looking to get something special for their niece, daughter or grand daughter that they will surely love.

this is very nice quality the crochet stitching is perfect and does look as though is handmade as stated it is long enough for any child and almost any adult however it is not very big around i am a little on the heavy side at 5'3" and weight of 165 and i stretch it out but of course my 6 year old has no trouble so as long is for child will be fine the yarn is soft and feels nice it is easy to get your feet and legs in and out as it is slit in the back not solid i will attach pictures showing the slit and how tall it is they are against a queen size bed for reference as you can see by the pictures i uploaded the color is off from what is advertised it is purple not pink but that is not a big deal to me or my daughter

This was better than I expected! It's very soft and appears to be very well made. I don't see any loose strings or poorly made seams. The vacuum pack packaging was terrific.My granddaughter loves it too. She wrapped up and took a nap without any arguments that she wasn't tired. She likes looking like a "real mermaid." This was a gift for a daughter of a friend. She is a 4 year old girl and she LOVES it. She wants to sleep in it, watch TV in it, eat in it. My friend has to convince her daughter she can't actually swim in it because it doesn't make her a real mermaid. I am a 34 year old male and I ain't gonna lie, I wish I could fit in it. My friend can though, and she is 5'3" so hey...sometimes short people get all the luck.Why can't I be a pretty mermaid too?

Cute little blankets! I bought these for my 11 and 13 year old nieces as Christmas presents, but my nieces are bigger than I thought and the blankets only went up to their waists. I would say the girls are both around 41/2 ft tall. So if your buying for little girls shorter than that they are really nice blankets. I washed them and they held up great. No random stretching, no threads hanging out or issues with the colors. They aren't heavy, but did not seem cheaply made either. Just a nice, light weight blanket with a fin.

I just received and opened the package.The blanket came vacuum packed and when opened had a strong chemical smell {as noted in a previous review}. I don't have time to air it out for three days but I'll try washing it, or tossing it out with the trash. It is certainly not acceptable enough to pass as a gift for a child as is, and the material is not as warm and comfy as described in most of the reviews. Hopefully washing the blanket with Gain and a good fabric softener will do the trick. My other concern is what chemical was the blanket treated with. I understand that certain products shipped from China are required to be treated with insecticide. Considering the smell this may be a possibility. Someone worked hard to create this blanket, so its a shame that better materials were not used.Good size for any kid under 4 Yrs

This blanket is cute and my daughter does like it a lot. They are open at the bottom , but I may see it together or something to help it actually be a warmer blanket. Made nicely and pretty color
