Flexible Waterproof 12 Volt LED Strip Lights 300 Units Smd Pack of 16.4ft 5m (White)

Bought these to make a light whip for my kayak. Wrapped these around a 1/2” pic pipe and everything seems fine until 10 minutes in with them on. The led light strip got insane hot and heated up so bad it melted the pvc pipe. The weather proof costing over the leds separated and peeled back. Good thing I tested these before actually putting them to use. I would have a bent in half melted light whip falling into the water next to the kayak.

I have installed this in a old florescent light fixture to replace in a work shop. Each strip uses 9.117 watts at 12 volts. Be careful of the voltage to high will over heat or under volt if you want the brightness. mount on metal strip as I heat sink for better performance on the live time of the LED's. Power supply can't be to small or over size or voltage. I will get back on the life of the LED's later in the year. I hot glued then in, the adhesive is poor (3M corp Junk) they will not stay in place very long at all. 1620 LED's installed 120volt input power supply 240watts 12volt output max all heat sink-ed. Without heat sinking they heat up FAST! LED's NOT LIKE HEAT BURN OUT FAST 7-20-2021Update At 10.5 volts too 9.5 volts these LED's work just find and have been running without any problems as the heat will damage them. At 11 volts and 13 volts they will get so hot there hard to handle if not heat sinked on metal strip and then they will burn out fast. Without a accurate volt meter a quarter of a volt will make a difference in the longevity. so precision is a MUST.

Installed two 16’ strips in the 24’ enclosed trailer and there is plenty of light. Doesn’t hurt to have an all white interior.Unlike many others I found the 3M tape to work very well - I did clean the surface with denatured alcohol first. Bought a bag of clips just in case - haven’t been through a hot summer yet........

I wanted to get more light than the factory LED lights that came with my 2016 Ram 1500 so I decided to try these. They were easy to wire up and there are videos on youtube.com that will help you through it. I wanted these to be manually controlled so I wired them directly to the battery. I had to run the wires and a 25' wire protector under the truck but it was not that hard. Make sure to install an inline fuse as I did. I purchased all the parts (wire, wire protector, switch, and LEDs) from amazon.

I used three strips to line our pavers. The adhesive on the strip did not work very well on pavers so I used E6000 cement glue (from Amazon). I connected the lights to my low voltage landscape lights using a 36W Outdoor Waterproof Low Voltage Landscape LED Power Supply Converter/Rectifier (from Amazon) so that they come on with the other landscape lights. To waterproof the connection from the landscape power feed and the power converter I used the Restmo 4 Pack Compact Outdoor Extension Cord Cover (from Amazon).
