If You Want Flavor, This is The Pour-Over Kettle For You! UPDATED*
I've been wanting this type of kettle for pour-over coffee for a few years, but they seemed to be too expensive ($100+). This Yabano kettle has brought this great design into the very affordable category. The short pour spout type of kettles out there do not allow you the control for a good pour-over extraction. The Yabano style really makes a difference. The temperature control is also a big plus for both different coffees and teas, and is very useful. The only issue I have is there seems to be no warranty period; the user manual mentions nothing in relation to warranty or guarantee. Also, the service contact is a gmail address...I've had the kettle for about a week, and have used it everyday. So far, very good, and highly recommended.Update: I've had the kettle for 8 months and still recommend it, but there are adjustments you need to make for best performance. The temperature readout is not accurate. I've found that a boil starts at about 204 degrees Fahrenheit, so I've found if you want to have the water in the best range for coffee set it to shut of at 200 degrees F. There is a new model with an analog dial thermometer on the top of the lid, this may be more accurate, but from reviews you can't set a temperature, so you would have to watch the thermometer for the desired temp.I have very hard water and my kettle needs cleaning at least every 2 weeks now that the kettle has been well used. I've found that about an inch of undiluted white cleaning vinegar soaking in the bottom for about 15 minutes works better than the recommended diluting with water and boiling. Otherwise, I've had no other issues, and the kettle continues to function properly.

Move Over Keurig
I love the Keurig coffee maker. It makes great coffee as well as other beverages. The pods work great except for one thing and that is the space they take in my cupboard. Also, it seems as if I'm always running to the store to get more pods. When I decided to go back to pour over coffee, this item caught my eye on Amazon. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and it has turned out to be very nice. I can go back to my regular ground coffee in a can which fits a lot better in my cupboard than the pods do. I can also create a cup of coffee that is as strong or as weak as I want to make it. The unit heats up quickly. The temperature shows as it heats up. The water can be maintained at a desired temperature as well. This is a great device if you like one or two cups of coffee or tea. The dripper funnel moves the hot water through the coffee grounds for a great tasting cup of coffee. The dripper is easy to clean.

Gooseneck Kettle
I liked this product so much I bought 2 of them.Pros: It's literally an electric tea kettle with a meat thermometer on the top. It's beyond stupid easy to use.You can see the blue light turn on when you turn it on and it snaps off when the boiling is completed. You can see when it slowly get cooler and is in the red zone which is the coffee/tea temperature. Heats up super fast. I think its like 3-4 minutes or so. Can fill up to 1 Liter. Good 2.5ish electric cord. It does have a mechanism to prevent boiling if it is dry. It also comes with a measuring coffee spoon and a metal coffee filter. I like how it is not noisy except for the boiling of water. The gooseneck aspect of the kettle allows you greater control if you make coffee with a filter and you can dissolve sugar better.Cons: Sometimes if you put the metal lid on wrong and pour at an aggressive angle, the water could spill out. After a year, there may be a tad bit rusting on bottom but it doesn't affect the taste. Although the metal coffee filter is cool to make coffee, you need filters otherwise the coffee oils clog up the filter.

For the price, very good
Keep in mind that this is a very inexpensive kettle among gooseneck kettles that have built in temperature controls. Very few kettles with decent ratings were both this economical AND had the temperature controls -- they tend to be either much more expensive or at this price they don't have this feature set. So for kettles priced at this level, this is really excellent and a good low cost way to get yourself completely into the pour over coffee game. For me, I am able to make myself a great cup of coffee with this, a decent <$20 scale, and a plastic Hario V60 without having invested a bunch of money to be able to do that. Overall, I'm still well below the cost of a good drip machine but with far better results. All of that said, I will still critique what I would like to see improved in this kettle which I don't believe would have increased the cost whatsoever. I won't suggest anything that would make it necessary to elevate this one to the same price as the more expensive kettles because the point is to have a cheap but usable kettle.Basically, just a few things which keep it from being 5 stars for such a cheap kettle:1) The temperature adjusts in 2 degree increments when tapping but allows 1 degree increments by holding it which is exactly backward to how it should work. Now, when you're trying to land on an exact temperature that's odd (like 201), you click the control a few times to get around there and then hold it to get that 1 degree advance, but by holding, it's jumping more than once, so you don't land where you want. If you go ahead and try getting it to an odd temp before advancing, you often get 2 out of it (one and then another single) so you're still not on track to that 201 target and need to try again. By reversing the 1 vs 2, it would be so much easier to get exactly where you want with less fumbling around.2) It can't remember what temperature you had set when you pick it up, so when doing several phases of pour-over (like picking up to wet the filter then set down and pick up again to bloom, setting down again, and then picking up again 45 seconds later to start pouring) it's completely reset each time so it doesn't do anything to maintain the temp you selected and you either have to just let it sit there cooling or quickly re-enter your temp again. Super annoying. If I got it to 201 and set it down, it should remember 201 and keep bringing the water to that temperature.3) Something doesn't quite seem right in its ability to discern temperature. For one method I get the water to 206, and I will set it to that, then wet the filter, set it down and re-enter the 206, let it get back to the 206, and then do my bloom. Often it says it's at 206, then I pick up and wet the filter for maybe 10 seconds and when I set it back down it says it's at 195 or so and now it has a full 10 degrees to go to get it back to 206... well, I don't believe it could possibly have cooled 11 degrees in 10 seconds so either the initial claim of 206 was way off or in setting it back down it has mis-measured itself and now it thinks it's much cooler than it actually is.The first two items should be simple enough to change without increasing the cost of the kettle. The third might have to do with the quality of the components that could be used in such an inexpensive kettle and may not be possible in this price range. Fine, if so. I'd take the first two and live with the 3rd if so. But back to the theme of my review -- just making these two simple changes which wouldn't cost anything would by themselves improve my rating of temperature control and ease of use so that this rating could move from 4 to 5. In no way do I consider these deal-breakers though, so if you're looking for a modest cost to get a suitable setup for making pour over coffee, this will probably be the one of the least expensive ways to do it that brings this level of function to you, so by all means, go for it.
