Cold weather is here and is messing with my Jeep's battery again. I bit the bullet and decided to finally get a portable car battery jumper and chose the Energen AL6. The small size and build quality of the unit is impressive and so is the overall package with the battery clamps, car charger cable, USB device charging cable and hard shell case to hold every tucked away in the trunk. Pretty snazzy!The AL6 unit feels rugged in the hand, the aluminum casing looks and feels quality and I always love a product that doesn't have a flimsy, plasticky feel to it. This car battery jumper feels like a small brick. The cable clamps connection is secure and the port has a rubber cover for storage.I feel ready for winter.

The unit is well made, but my revised headline and reduced number of stars says it all. From my original review: The battery clips are sturdy. Of similar items, this is in the middle of the price range relative to its energy storage capacity. A cigar lighter charging cable is included for charging this unit in your car or it can be charged from a standard cell phone charger - not included. A USB-A to iOS 8-pin (Lightning) cable for charging Apple products is included. NEW info: Prior to my first attempted use, I fully charged the unit. The unit was at room temp. The car with run down battery was outside at about 55 deg. F. I followed the directions precisely, but was disappointed when this unit could not even begin to turn the starter.

As soon as I jump my car, it starts beeping to indicate you have left it hooked up too long. You have 3 seconds after you jump your other vehicle off before it starts beeping at you. I don't know what happens if you let it go too long....
