Normal Food Made Healthy
I have two of Dick Louge's books. This low cholesterol one and the first low sodium one. If you are trying to decide which one to buy, I actually like the low sodium one better. Try the Cheeseburger pie in that one because it very close to that old Bisquick favorite even without the sodium. This low cholesterol book is okay, but not great. I really wanted to like it. The thing I really like about his books is that these are all normal recipes. Not gourmet recipes that only a chef would make, but normal family style recipes that anyone would eat. I also like most of the ingredients are things that can be found in a normal grocery store. The instructions are very easy to follow as well, so if you are overwhelmed by diet changes, this book will be easy to follow. The downsides to the book are there are no pictures if that is important to you. I also find I have to do a lot of tweaking as far as spices because the few recipes I've tried don't have enough flavor for my taste. Not a huge adjustment to make, but it is annoying when I have to do this for every recipe I tried. I didn't find this to be the case in the other book, so I don't know if it was my taste buds or the book.

Lots of really good recipes
I've only made one recipe out of this book so far but I have lots of Post Its marking recipes I want to make. I really thought I was going to have to sacrifice flavor to get my cholesterol and triglycerides down but there are lots of recipes that I would actually eat. I hate coconut and I was trying to go paleo or keto but most of their recipes called for some type of coconut flavoring - coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut itself. Yuck! I don't have that in this cookbook. However, there are no pictures so if you want to see what it is supposed to look like when it's done, you'll be disappointed with this book. It's a thick cookbook filled with some really tasty recipes. If this had photos, it would be too heavy with too many pages. I would recommend this cookbook to most people except for the ones who just have to have a photo.

Common sense ingredients
We've been using this cookbook lately. After each entree, I ask my husband how he would rate the food. The ratings have gone from 3-1/2 stars to 5 stars (out of just 5). There isn't a single item we wouldn't make again. It had some great fish recipes to meet our needs. We are new to eating fish regularly.

I love food. I didn't need to lose weight but ...
I rarely write reviews but this book warrants a review. I was devastated when my doctor ordered me to begin a strict low saturated fat diet. I love food. I didn't need to lose weight but my cholesterol was really high. The recipes in this book are simple but delicious. It doesn't feel like a sacrifice at all. My family actually prefers the heart healthy recipes over the full fat versions!

Favorite Book So Far
We bought 2 low cholesterol recipe books. This book is the best by far. This book has normal ingredients, which is important when feeding a family of 6. I don't really even look at the other book anymore. All recipes that we have tried, except 1, has been a total hit! :) Just keep in mind, this is low cholesterol food so you can't anticipate everything to be salty.

Recommend it highly😀
My cookbook came in this morning. I just spent the two hour going through it.I had my doubts about it but I was wrong.I kept finding more and more recipes I want to make. I'm a picky eater so when I find recipes I like I get very excited. Recipes are very easy to follow with no fancy goods I don't use

absolutely fantastic.
I really liked this book partly because of the nutrition counts. I am diabetic and have ben put on low fat low sodium diet. This book was very timely when I found it at my local library. I was so impressed I ordered it on line. It probably saved my life. I was so depressed when I tried to prepare meals that had any flavor needless to say I failed drastically. Now I am very happy to succeed. THANK YOU DICK. Perhaps you can a create a diabetic one with low carbs.
