Airs & Graces
Enjoyable read. Hermione, Ellen's qirky neighbor was thehighlight of the novel and was the most developed character. However,James could have done so much more with the teenage mother and Mattthew character. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this novel tremendously!

Not so good
Actually a bit disappointing, just not the 'Erica James standard'.

Not one of Erica James' bests. It didn't draw me in like her other books have but I still wanted to read until the end.

Engaging
When Ellen's husband leaves her for a younger woman after twenty years of marriage, she is at first quite shattered, even though her marriage was far from perfect with a husband who needed kinky sex. Soon however, she becomes reconciled to leaving her large, comfortable home and settles into a tiny cottage where she sets up a dried flower business which is a bit slow to get going. The attendant money worries make her dtermined to remarry for money and security, so when the local solicitor, wealthy and eligible Duncan, who took care of her divorce, shows an interest in her, she dismisses some niggling doubts and agrees to marry him. Hermione, her friend and neighbour, has grave doubts about such a marriage, hoping that her godson Matthew and Ellen might be right for each other. The two women befriend JoJo, a pregnant, teenaged runaway who proves to be a catalyst in both their lives and, along with various other characters, both amusing and dark, unfolds a pleasant and readable tale of village life.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It reminded me of a Rosamunde Pilcher book. Thumbs up!

Airs and Graces
I loved this book, it had a really feel good factor, the characters were brilliant especially Hermione with her quick wit, I laughed so much. There is Ellen who had very little luck in the husband department was infuriating at her lack of ability to see the dire Duncan for what he was. She is struggling to survive by starting her own florist business after she was fleeced by her ex husband. Jo-Jo was a girl who was pregnant had been made homeless and whom Ellen and Hermione befriended.she is feisty yet vulnerable. It is set in a very cliche upmarket village with some great residents namely Bonkers and Susie and Duncan's dreadful mother. plus the residents of a very well to do retirement home.I read it in a day I recommend it to anyone who loves quirky people and a laugh.

Touching real issues that affect human beings.
As usual Erica James writes a compelling story with lots of issues that affect many people and one can readily identify with them. She is obviously an avid listener and observer of the human condition. Have read this book twice and enjoyed it.

Yet another good read
Came across Erica James books when buying a present for someone else, I ended up buying 2 of the same book, one for myself, that was two years ago I'm now completely hooked on her books. I love the storylines and the fact that she does not ruin her books with unnecessary explicit sex like so many other author feel the need to do. This one was a delight to read and was yet another one I could not put down.

Sadly NOT GOOD
This book is a big disappointment. It smells of damp and as I purchased for a McMillan Coffee Morning very disappointing.
