Mystic Reaper Rods are designed to meet the performance criteria of a good fly rod yet be gentle on the wallet. To do this, something has to give but Mystic won't sacrifice function or performance to achieve the goal. Mystic simply uses good quality materials for construction of this series of rods, not necessarily the best materials, but very good. Mystic uses the same mandrels and taper designs as the signature Mystic fly rod series for the construction of the blanks, but they substitute a less expensive high modulus composite material. The components are very good, just not the most expensive. The assembly, thread wrappings and finish work is very, very good. The high modulus blank is an attractive rich deep green, and the reel seat features a light maple burl inset. The result is an outstanding fishing rod at an exceptional price.
